Sarasota county commissioners allow developers to do what they will with properties of the residents they are meant to represent. Community meeting after meeting, protest after protest, the developers projects move forward and residents properties suffer. Why? Corruption?
Demand the Office of the Chief Inspector General (OIG) within the Executive Office of the Governor investigate the potential corruption in the ongoing relationship between developers - Sarasota county commissioners - and planners.
This relationship allows the overdevelopment of the Englewood area regardless of the wishes of the residents they are charged to represent.

On its face, the persistence of a community development program, loudly protested by that same community, illustrates a serious problem with the local county government, whose job it is to represent the will of the residents.
Sarasota County Commissioners are not doing their jobs in representing the will of the residents of Englewood and Venice.
If by corruption by receiving favors and payoffs from developers, or incompetence, these county commissioners have overseen the raping of our natural wildlands and ecosystem and the destruction of our neighborhoods and homes.
This dynamic of uncontrolled growth over the protestations of the residents illustrates deep corruption of government compromised by corporations or, at the very least, gross governmental over-reach.
From Sarasota Counties own website, one of the primary jobs of the commissioners is:
"Community Representation: Serve as representatives for the residents of Sarasota County, addressing their concerns and needs."
Rather than guiding our elected officials to limit high density growth in our area, our sincere protestations have become nothing but a road bump, a perfunctory obligation on a checklist of superficial performance, while the relentless drive to mow down every last patch of natural forest and over-whelm every road and intersection continues unabated.
Englewood has been for the current residents, a quiet place with natural beauty where locals greeted each other by name at the weekly farmers market and many came to escape the frenetic pace of the larger north eastern cities and suburbs.
Our county government is in the process of turning this quiet natural area we love into a congested impersonal city, something no one in our community wants, and they're using our property taxes to do it!
GOVERNOR DESANTIS, YOUR INTERVENTION TO STOP THIS ATTACK ON OUR HOMES AND COMMUNITY IS OUR LAST HOPE TO REGAIN OUR FREEDOM AND PEACE AS FLORIDIANS AND AMERICAN CITIZENS - PLEASE INVESTIGATE SARASOTA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS CORRUPT RELATIONSHIP WITH DEVELOPERS AND STOP THIS OUT OF CONTROL LOCAL GOVERNMENT!
